Sosaba is an artisan-inclusive system. From brickwork in South Africa to cork products in Portugal or terracotta in the UAE, local materials are crafted in ways that have been perfected over generations. Sosaba developed a system that can create new opportunities for artisans to integrate their products with ease. These products include panelling for exterior and interior walls, flooring, roofing, cabinetry, furniture and more.
We support artisans in preparing their work for our system. Fabrics, wood, metal, stone, and other materials are prepared into molds per our specifications. These components interlock in our system for quick assembly. Together, we are able to develop and commercialize exquisite pieces of artisanal work to our clients and customers.
Structural or decorative construction materials are often misused in construction projects for a lack of understanding of their ancestral purpose and preparation. It is often in the experience of decades of daily work with wood or clay or stone that gets passed down to an apprentice by a master artisan that the sensibility of a material's true potential can be realized.
In our societies, a focus on profitability of a sliver of the byproducts of artisanal work due to a need to standardize for reduced manufacturing complexities, has left a wide gap in the products available to the masses. Those products that are unavailable from manufacturing facilities are often the most expensive and sought after due to the high degree of expertise required to create them. We look to narrow the gap by creating an opportunity for artisans to recover some of the ground lost to industrialization, merging the best of modern manufacturing practices with the traditions at risk of being lost to time.
